About us

What?

Future of Africa (FOA) aims to provide opportunities, resources, and skills in order to nurture the dreams and aspirations of underprivileged children and youth. We strongly believe that young people have the power and potential to make a difference and be agents of change in Africa. By focusing on supporting children and youth, the future leaders of the continent, Future of Africa seeks to encourage forward-thinking and foster a whole generation dedicated to progress, innovation, creative solutions, and change.

So What?

Future of Africa provides a forum to unite like-minded individuals, who share an interest in increasing their awareness of global issues and a passion for acting for the benefit of humanity. Through its various initiatives, Future of Africa inspires action beyond merely discussing the issues, and challenges misconceptions and stereotypes by raising awareness about the realities in Africa. It seeks to advocate and foster youth leadership, encouraging students to become conscientious global citizens who implement their innovating thinking in FOA campaigns. Founded in Canada and now a registered NGO in Ghana, Future of Africa achieves its goals through the combined efforts and resources of both Canadian and Ghanaian volunteers.

Now What?

Future of Africa is optimistic about its increased potential as result of its official registration as Ghanaian NGO, and it also eagerly anticipates its registration as a Canadian charity in the near future. Other projected Future of Africa activities include establishing additional Chapters at Canadian universities as well as further developing a team of Ghanaian participants, close to the issues on the ground, in order to further expand Future of Africa’s capacity to engage passionate and action oriented youth in both countries.

Equipped with a growing foundation of dedicated volunteers who possess a desire to make a difference, Future of Africa intends to provide support to local NGOs in Ghana, selected annually on the basis of need, through a combination of volunteer and fundraising initiatives. Future of Africa will also soon begin to establish Youth Centers in Ghana, a central development in achieving the vision and goals of the organization. Through the Youth Centers – which will offer resources, support, and opportunities for youth to acquire skills through a variety of disciplines – Future of Africa aims to empower and educate, allowing children and youth to pursue their interests while also leading them to realize the role they play in the Future of Africa.
