Torwomenye Kwasi “TK” Azaglo is the co-founder of Future of Africa, an organization dedicated to providing opportunities, resources, and support to children and youth in Africa to enable them to achieve their full potential and initiate innovative change within the continent.
TK’s inspiration for Future of Africa originates from his own experiences as a Ghanaian international student, as well as the words and actions of influential human rights activists whose work address the challenges faced in Africa. While receiving his education abroad in Canada, TK recognized and resolved to utilize his privilege as a means of creating opportunities for his less advantaged Ghanaian peers. His familiarity with both Ghanaian and Canadian society has also inspired him to provide a context in which Canadians can learn about Africa in an open environment free of intimidation or fear of asking the wrong questions.
TK studied Global Studies and Political Science at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he excelled as a student leader. His was the recipient of the Emerging Leaders Award in 2008 and the Residence Life Citizenship Award in 2011, which both recognize outstanding student leadership contribution at Laurier and in the local and global community. TK continues to exercise his leadership qualities as he proceeds in developing Future of Africa and its initiatives.
