Future of Africa has also begun to engage youth at the high school level. Students of the International Affairs Student Council at Galt Collegiate Institute in Cambridge organized a school supply over the course of three months to collect donations for Future of Africa’s Journey for Change. The school supplies were donated to Smile Child Foundation in Lolito, a primary school in rural Ghana. The International Affairs Student Council members also wrote messages to be delivered to the children of Smile Child Foundation, offering words of encouragement, expressing their concern for the students’ continued education, and demonstrating their interest in providing support to the children of Smile Child Foundation.
Students at Galt Collegiate Institute have not only made an important contribution to Journey for Change, but they have also set a positive example of how high school students can become actively involved in Future of Africa initiatives.
Are you a high school student interested in getting involved? Check out the “High School Engagement Resource” document on the left.
