Future of Africa was founded at Wilfrid Laurier in 2008. Since its inauguration, the organization has made a great deal of progress within the Laurier community and has been recognized on multiple occasions for its accomplishments and achievements. In March 2009, the it was the Laurier Campus Club recipient of the Best New Club of the Year Award; in December 2010, it was nominated for the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge YMCA Peace Medallion Award; and in March 2011, it was the Laurier Campus Club recipient of the Most Active Club Award, awarded by Wilfrid Laurier Students Union Campus Clubs.
